Amy Kvien

Amy Kvien is a climate professional specializing in climate risk assessment, strategy, and reporting, with additional expertise in GHG accounting and reporting. With over 10 years of experience across climate risk, data analytics, and finance, Amy has a rich background in developing quantitative analysis to assess climate risk and crafting evidence-backed risk mitigation strategies. In 2023, Amy was recognized as an emerging leader in the climate change field by the European Union, which brought her to Brussels and Madrid to meet with policymakers, academics, and key private sector companies.

Most recently, Amy served as Manager of Climate Risk Analytics at Freddie Mac, where she assessed transition and physical climate risks across a mortgage portfolio encompassing over 15 million homes. Her work included pioneering methods to evaluate transition risk, calculating emissions associated with the mortgage portfolio, and critically reviewing physical risk metrics and property insurance risk exposures.

Previously, Amy was Manager of Financial Institutions at Ceres, where she advised banks and investors on climate risk management and green finance. She also played a key role in drafting and supporting California’s landmark climate disclosure legislation, SB 253 and SB 261, which require climate risk and GHG emissions reporting.

Earlier in her career, Amy spent more than seven years at the Federal Reserve, working in international finance. She developed speaking points on climate change for Chair Powell for G7 and G20 meetings, co-authored a paper on global banks’ climate strategies, and provided financial services to central banks worldwide.

Amy holds a BA in Economics and an MBA. Based in Orlando, FL, she actively volunteers with local nonprofits to clean waterways and advocate for residential solar adoption. She is also a certified yoga instructor who enjoys helping others feel their best – mind and body.
